Chambray You Stay

The seasons most versatile fabric is finally ready to bust out of the closets and on to the streets. Chambray has been the summer staple for many years and highly embraced by companies worldwide. For many years, the GAP has featured chambray in many of their denim on denim ad campaigns. Now it’s time for you gents to go out and grab a few for yourself this summer.

Chambray can come in many styles and colors as well as being able to pair with many types of pants. My personal favorite way to style chambray is having a lighter wash shirt over a dark wash denim and throw on a pair of white converses. It gives you this classic 90’s style that always looks great.

My favorite euro celeb, David Beckham loves to rock chambray in his street style as well! You can run into any GAP, Banana Republic, H&M or Zara and grab an affordable dose of chambray for you spring/summer wardrobe.

The Dapper Man’s Guide to Weddings

As wedding season draws near, it’s time to take a look at all the do’s and don’ts of formal attire. Weddings can be tricky, but don’t be intimidated! These tips can help you get through the just about any wedding you could be attending.

The City Wedding

City weddings give more room for expression through accessorizing. Suits should be blue or grey or black and paired with classic white or a light blue dress shirt. As far as a dress shoe goes, go with an oxford or derby in brown if you aren’t wearing a black suit. A pocket square and tie is perfect for the occasion and you can choose a pattern or color you find compliments your suit best. Unique cufflinks are also a great way to add a little flair to your ensemble.

The Beach Wedding

Beach weddings are definitely the more relaxed of weddings. This is your chance to break out that linen suit you’ve always wanted to wear! Shades of grey and pale blue are completely acceptable while pairing it with a solid or small patterned dress shirt. You can get away with not wearing a tie or bow tie being that this is the most casual of weddings. Depending on which direction you want to go, you can chose a nice loafer or leather dress sandal. NOTE: Make sure you get a pedicure if you are exposing your feet in any way.

The Country Wedding

This is my favorite type of wedding being that I’m a country boy. Once again a suit in shades of blue and grey are perfect for the occasion. Depending on the groom, you may even get away with a fun color like pale yellow. Linen is fine, but I’d say stick with cotton for a more structured look. Have a little fun and grab a pair of suede dress shoes for the occasion. Country wedding gives you more room for creativity and won’t leave you feeling stiff. If you really want to make a statement, try a subtle floral print dress shirt under you suit. After all, country folk always love to be the talk of the town.

The Black Tie Wedding

This being the most strict on dress code, it leaves no room for error. If you don’t have a tuxedo, rent one. 3 piece tuxedos are your best way to go while pairing it with a black bow tie.

Final Tips

  • Make sure the suit is tailored to your body. Looking frumpy is not the way you want to go.
  • Always consult with the groom as to what he is wearing
  • Have fun! Weddings are meant to be a happy occasion and you don’t want to spend to much time stressing over it.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Sunglass Ettiquette

tom ford aviator sunglasses

Sunglasses are often part of a first impression, thus getting it right is important.  As a true gentlemen they must be used for their very purpose and no other.  For example, one should always remove one’s glasses when addressing another individual you do not know.  I was always taught that the person wants to talk to you, not a dark soulless lens.

When with friends on a crisp windy fall day,  or as you share experiences on a sunny beach, this rule can, of course, be overlooked.  To test this theory, next time you address a stranger or somebody providing services, remove your glasses to converse and you will immediately gain their respect.

When used for their purpose, sunglasses add style and class to any individual or attire.  I am a true believer that fashion can come at any costs.  Whilst we will look at a truly delightful designer (Tom Ford) I realize that this is not within everybody’s reach and we will see in the future how different brands and more importantly costs can provide an equal impact.

Aviator sunglasses are classically American, yet versatile to work with many different styles. Tom Ford has exceptional taste in eyewear (actually in all fashion) for many budgets and face shapes.

The aviator is a good way to add a masculine style to any man or woman.  It is true that most individuals associate sunglasses with Summer.  The key to eyewear style is to embrace sunglasses thoughout the seasons to add a complement to all attire regardless of the season.

As fall approaches and you reach for your scarves, you might consider a classic aviator with rose gold accents to polish off your look, such as the pair featured here.
