When did Men forget to be gentlemen? I know the world is changing and I of course support that men and women are absolutely equal. That said, there is nothing wrong with respecting the good elements of tradition.
It amazes me that men so frequently disregard basic manners. Holding the door, standing when a lady enters the room, why did these traditions die?
Guys, there is nothing wrong with holding the door, helping somebody with their coat.
Moving on from your girlfriends, why can’t we show respect our elders? Recently I interacted with an elderly lady in Trader Joes by offering a helping hand as she battled with her shopping baskets. A smile and a hand of assistance is the simplest thing to give and is always so handsomely received.
Guys, step outside your comfort zone and be a gentlemen.
It’s finally time for some fun in the sun! With the vacations being planned and trips to the pool necessary, it’s time to hit up your local retailers for a new swim suit. I am beyond happy that the popular style this season has shifted back to something a bit more conservative. Bold patterns and exciting prints are still trending, while length is about 4-5 inches above the knee.
David Beckham has expanded his partnership with H&M into men’s swimwear this season! With many different styles and cuts, It’s no doubt you’ll find something you are comfortable with. The line stays very muted and masculine with solids tones. I personally own the white pair on the right and can confirm the fit to be amazing. Prices range anywhere from $12.95-24.95 at all H&M locations.
No matter your style, it’s time to go out and grab a new pair of trunks and hit the water this season. Have fun, gentlemen!
Zac Efron has been on the tween scene since his 2006 debut in Disney’s High School Musical. After a successful trilogy with the hugely successful franchise, Efron has since broken off into more dramatic movie roles such as 2010’s Charlie St Cloud and 2012’s The Paperboy. Just a few months away from his 27th birthday, this hollywood heartthrob show’s no sign of slowing down.
Shown here on the streets of NYC, his ability to layer and accessorize is spot on. Most celebrities tend to rely a lot on the help of a stylist to get ready for events and premieres, while not caring as much when it comes to their every day style. Zac has had a solid grip on his street style for many years now and is rarely seen not looking put together.
When it comes to layering, attention to the smaller details can me very important. To the rolling of the cuff or the buttoning of a shirt, Zac clearly takes into account what makes an outfit work before stepping out the door.
Whether it be the streets, getting off a plane or walking the red carpet, Zac Efron is one of the youngest male style icons of today and is a true example of great American style. You can see Zac in his new film Neighbors which is in theaters now.
Award show red carpets are probably my favorite part of the season. Last night’s Tony Awards here in NYC was Broadway’s most anticipated night of the year. The hardest working people in show business showed up in hopes of taking home the coveted award. Led by Australia’s very own Broadway veteran and 4 time Tony Award host, Hugh Jackman once again shined with classical style and charisma.
An American Dapper favorite, Andrew Garfield donned his signature slim fit suit and skinny tie. The Tony’s has always been known for it’s classic style among the men and Andrew did not disappoint. The new Spider-man was in attendance representing his role in this season’s Broadway play Death of a Salesman.
Fresh off the publicity tour from the HBO film The Normal Heart, White Collar star Mathew Bomer was as dapper as ever in his perfectly tailored black tuxedo. Detailing with the always classic bow-tie, Mr. Bomer is a true representation of dapper style. You can catch Mathew in his incredible role as Felix Turner in HBO’s The Normal Heart, now on HBO and HBO GO.
I recently put a spotlight on Coach’s Bleecker Day Tote and how it is a hot bag to look for this season. Today I wanted to touch base on the mens bag in general. European men have always seemed to embrace the fashionable accessory for some time now, while American men seem to think of it as too feminine. This post is going to feature the different types of mens bags that can be used on different occasions.
The Canvas Bag:
Spring and Summer weather call for materials that won’t damage in the sun. Canvas offers durability while being lightweight. Brands like Fossil, H&M, Coach and Banana Republic have great canvas choices this season worth checking out. Try looking for canvas totes with leather handles! It gives the bag a touch of sophistication. We all know that never hurt anyone.
If you are wanting a bag that can go from season to season, it’s best to invest in a leather or coated canvas messenger. Best for the on-the-go man, the messenger can be carried by a handle or cross-body strap. Messengers have been used by men for many years and the tradition needs to live on!
Don’t be afraid to try something new, guys. Investing in a good seasonal bag is something worth doing.
The seasons most versatile fabric is finally ready to bust out of the closets and on to the streets. Chambray has been the summer staple for many years and highly embraced by companies worldwide. For many years, the GAP has featured chambray in many of their denim on denim ad campaigns. Now it’s time for you gents to go out and grab a few for yourself this summer.
Chambray can come in many styles and colors as well as being able to pair with many types of pants. My personal favorite way to style chambray is having a lighter wash shirt over a dark wash denim and throw on a pair of white converses. It gives you this classic 90’s style that always looks great.
My favorite euro celeb, David Beckham loves to rock chambray in his street style as well! You can run into any GAP, Banana Republic, H&M or Zara and grab an affordable dose of chambray for you spring/summer wardrobe.
